KPN Granted Permission to Initiate Contempt Proceedings Against Papagomo

Must Read

KUALA LUMPUR: The Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain has today received approval from the High Court to initiate contempt proceedings against blogger Papagomo, Wan Muhammad Azri Wan Deris, for violating a court order.

Justice Commissioner Gan Techiong made this ruling after hearing an ex-parte application by the legal representatives of Razarudin. The date for the inter-parte hearing of the contempt proceedings will be set later.

Razarudin filed the contempt application on January 24, seeking legal action against Wan Muhammad Azri for failing to comply with a court injunction order on January 10, when Papagomo posted defamatory content about him on social media platforms such as YouTube, TikTok, X, and Telegram.

The court had previously issued an order prohibiting Papagomo from publishing or spreading defamatory statements about Razarudin on social media platforms and messaging apps until the defamation lawsuit is resolved.

The defamatory statements also involved allegations against Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
