PETALING JAYA: It was a night honouring brilliance, bold choices and boundless creativity as the Malaysian performing arts community gathered under one roof again to celebrate the 2025 Boh Cameronian Arts Awards.

Held at the Petaling Jaya Performing Arts Centre on Sunday (May 4), the event proved to be a vibrant showcase of the diversity and dynamism of Malaysian performing arts.

Organised by Kakiseni since 2002, the Boh Cameronian Arts Awards (BCAA) is Malaysia’s premier performing arts awards, which honours extraordinary contributions in local theatre, dance, music, and musical theatre.

This year’s ceremony also held special significance as it marked the BCAA’s 20th anniversary, as reflected in its theme: “20 Years of Legacy: Igniting Inspiration for Tomorrow”.

This milestone was highlighted by a special commemorative presentation featuring past winners, presenters, and memorable moments from its illustrious history.

“The BCAA is a platform to uplift, discover and connect. With every name announced, we honour not just excellence, but what the Malaysian arts scene is today, and the possibility of what it can become,” Kakiseni president Low Ngai Yuen said.

“As we step into the next 20 years, we carry forward not just the accolades, but the spirit to keep nurturing spaces where ideas flourish, where courage takes the spotlight and where the arts continue to be a catalyst for unity, courage and growth.”

Hosted by the charismatic duo Sean Ghazi and Yon Lynn, this year’s BCAA celebrated a wide array of diverse and compelling productions that earned well-deserved accolades.

In the Dance category, Orang-Orang Drum Theatre’s “Kaka-Lala” picked up four awards, including Best Music and Sound Design, while the Kwang Tung Dance Company’s “Laluan Amaryllis – Still” won two.
