TEHRAN, June 5 (Bernama-IRNA) — Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian have reiterated their countries’ unwavering support for the Palestinian people, stressing the urgent need for Muslim nations to work together in pursuit of peace, stability and justice.
In a phone conversation on Thursday in conjunction with Eid al-Adha, Anwar praised Iran’s firm stance in defending the Palestinian cause and strongly condemned the Israeli regime’s ongoing atrocities, the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported.
He said Malaysia would spare no effort in supporting initiatives to end the violence in Gaza and to restore peace and security to its people, reaffirming Kuala Lumpur’s commitment to championing the rights of the oppressed on the international stage.
Pezeshkian, in response, emphasised the spiritual significance of Islamic celebrations as an opportunity to strengthen brotherhood among Muslim nations, united by a common scripture, prophet and qibla.
He underscored the shared responsibility of Muslim governments to stand up for the oppressed across the Islamic world, and called for stronger representation of the plight of Gazans in international forums, describing the situation as one of the most brutal humanitarian crises in contemporary history.
The two leaders also reaffirmed their commitment to bolstering bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation in the interest of the wider Muslim ummah.
