Malaysia Take Two Titles At Malaysia International Challenge 2025

KUALA LUMPUR, 17 Aug (Bernama) – Malaysia emerged as the overall winner of the Malaysia International Challenge 2025 after securing two titles at the Perak Arena Badminton, Ipoh, Perak today.

Malaysia captured won the mixed doubles and men’s singles titles, but missed out on a third in the men’s doubles.

Unseeded pair of Tan Zhi Yang-Nicole Tan continued their fine form by defeating Indonesia’s Kenzie Yoe-Luna Rianty Saffana in the final of the mixed doubles 16-14, 15-10 in just over 30 minutes.

The Malaysians had beaten top Indonesian duo Zaidan Arrafi Awal Nabawi-Jessica Maya Rismawardani on their way to the final.

The men’s singles final was an all-Malaysian affair between Eogene Ewe and Jan Jireh Lee.

Eogene, 20, fresh from his Slovenian Open triumph, lost the first game 8-15 but rallied to win 15-7, 15-13.

In the men’s doubles, second seeds Muhammad Faiq-Lok Hong Quan went down 7-15, 9-15 to Japan’s top seeds Keiichiro Matsui-Katsuki Tamate in 26 minutes.
