Ministry of Health Urged to Focus on Mental Health Issues of Nurses and Doctors

Must Read

KUALA LUMPUR: In an official request, Dato G Kumaar Aamaan, the editor of Ottrangknews, calls on the Ministry of Health Malaysia (KKM), led by Datuk Seri Dr. Dzulkefly Ahmad, to give serious attention to the issues faced by many nurses and doctors in government hospitals.

He expressed concern regarding the mental state of these healthcare professionals, who are increasingly stressed due to longer working hours, staff shortages, and high workloads from ongoing audits.

Dr. Dzulkefly Ahmad recently announced that his ministry is considering legal amendments related to criminal cases involving mental health patients. In a press conference at the Malaysian International Health Conference (MIH) Megatrends 2024, he emphasized the importance of thorough studies before any decisions are made. He stressed that each case must be carefully examined and requires expert confirmation to determine an individual’s mental status.

Dr. Dzulkefly also acknowledged that understanding each case is more critical before finalizing any decisions. He urged that this issue be addressed based on existing guidelines, to safeguard the interests and safety of all parties involved.

The opening ceremony of MIH Megatrends 2024 was officiated by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Ibrahim, in collaboration with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission and KPJ Healthcare.
