The Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) is set to appoint a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to replace Ahmad Faedzal Md Ramli, who will be leaving the National Sports Institute (NSI) on February 24. “We have advertised for the NSI CEO position and received many applications. I have also held a town hall session with NSI top management to hear their views,” said Hannah. “We will follow the interview process, which will be conducted by KBS secretary-general Datuk Dr. K. Nagulendran. We want to ensure that there is continuity of services provided so that all our athletes’ preparations for various games will not be disrupted.”

In a related development, the Ministry of Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh today handed over cars to medal winners of the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games who received a generous discount offer from Chery Malaysia. Among the national para athletes who received the offer were the gold medallists of the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games, Cheah Liek Hou and Bonnie Bunyau Gustin, as well as para shot put athlete Ziyad Zolkefli who managed to win a silver medal.

Liek Hou, a gold medallist, expressed his gratitude to Chery Malaysia for helping him own his first electric car, saying, “This discount reduces my financial burden. I plan to use this car as a daily vehicle to attend training sessions and so on.” Ziyad also expressed his thanks, saying, “When I knew I could get this discount, I responded to this call. I chose the Sportage car and will use it daily.”

Hannah Yeoh has assured that the ministry is taking steps to ensure a smooth transition and minimize any disruption to NSI’s services. She added that the new CEO would be appointed based on the outcome of the interview process, which will be conducted by KBS secretary-general Datuk Dr. K. Nagulendran.

Ahmad Faedzal, who has been serving as CEO of NSI since February 25, 2019, has indicated that he will not extend his tenure, which was subject to the discretion of the Public Service Department (JPA).
