Avoid Religious Tensions, Resolve the Issue Wisely

KUALA LUMPUR, March 24, 2025 – Ottrangknews Editor-in-Chief and social activist, Dato G Kumaar Aamaan, has urged the Temple Committee, all ministers and deputy ministers, the President and Deputy President of MIC, as well as NGOs representing the Indian community to immediately hold a meeting with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to resolve the issue regarding the construction of Masjid Madani in Jalan Masjid India.

According to him, this issue should not be politicized and must be resolved through fair and transparent negotiations.

“I believe the Prime Minister will act fairly and find the best solution for all parties. Therefore, I urge all stakeholders to sit down and discuss this matter as soon as possible,” he said.

He also emphasized that any hasty actions or attempts to escalate the issue could jeopardize national harmony and the unity of Malaysia’s multi-racial society.

Earlier, Lawyers for Liberty (LFL) questioned the Prime Minister’s decision to set March 27, 2025, as the groundbreaking date for Masjid Madani, despite ongoing discussions between the temple management and Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).

National Unity Must Come First – All Parties Should Engage with PM Anwar

Dato G Kumaar Aamaan further stressed that this issue requires a unity-based solution, in line with the principles of the Unity Government led by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

“I am confident that the Prime Minister has good intentions regarding this matter, and as the nation’s leader, he certainly does not want any community to feel sidelined or mistreated,” he added.

As such, he urged all parties, including political leaders and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), to adopt a more mature approach by prioritizing dialogue and discussion.

“Unity is the foundation of our country’s stability. Therefore, we must allow discussions to take place and not let this issue be politicized by any party,” he said.

He also hopes that the temple committee and the Indian community can meet with the Prime Minister directly to obtain clarity on the future of the temple site and find the best solution for all parties involved.
