Golfer Muhammad Afham Othman Aims for Top-Five Finish at 2025 Junior World Cup

KOTA BHARU, Dec 23 (Bernama) – Young national golfer Muhammad Afham Othman is set to fly to the United States on Wednesday to participate in the prestigious 2025 Junior World Cup tournament from January 3-5.

Afham, a 13-year-old from Gua Musang, has been making preparations for the tournament and is determined to secure a top-five position.

"I didn’t expect to be selected as one of the top five to qualify for Florida because according to the original plan, my involvement at that time was to gain experience," he said in a ceremony to celebrate his selection.

However, Afham’s dream of playing in the US has been fulfilled thanks to contributions from several parties, allowing him to make the trip.

The seventh of nine siblings, who began playing golf at the age of 11, has made thorough preparations for the tournament and is looking forward to his US trip.

At the Thailand Junior Championship last month, Afham finished in second place, behind South Korean player Taeoh Ryu, while third place went to Ralph Rian Woo Batican of the Philippines.

Preparations and Accompanying Party

Afham will be accompanied by his father, Otman Ismail, 64, and coach Dinie Zakie throughout his 13-day stay in the US.
