KUALA LUMPUR, April 3 (Bernama) – Pakistan has delivered the country’s first humanitarian aid consignment for Myanmar earthquake victims, a move that demonstrates the country’s commitment to providing assistance to those affected by the devastating disaster.

Aid Consignment Handed Over

Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority, in a statement issued in Islamabad, announced that a 35-tonne consignment was handed over to Myanmar authorities at Yangon International Airport. The aid package was delivered by Ambassador of Pakistan in Myanmar, Imran Haider, along with officials from the Pakistan Embassy.

"The Government of Pakistan and Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority remains steadfast in its commitment to providing humanitarian assistance to earthquake-affected people of Myanmar," the statement read.

Last Friday, a 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar, causing widespread destruction and loss of life in Mandalay, Bago, Magway, northeastern Shan State, Sagaing, and Naypyidaw. The powerful quake also affected neighboring Thailand, leaving thousands of people in need of assistance.
