PBB’s Bumiputera Wing Vice President Election Results Announced

KUCHING, Feb 16 (Bernama)

Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah has failed to defend his position as vice president of the Bumiputera wing of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu Sarawak (PBB) in the party’s elections held yesterday.

The results were announced by the Elections chairman, Datuk Awang Bemee Awang Ali Basah, at the party’s 16th General Assembly today. Abdul Karim, who is Sarawak Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Minister, garnered 669 votes, placing him fifth out of six candidates. Only the four candidates with the highest votes will secure the vice president posts.

Winners

Satok assemblyman Datuk Ibrahim Baki, the new contender for the position, secured the highest votes at 910, followed by the state Utility and Telecommunication Minister Datuk Seri Julaihi Narawi, who defended his position with 900 votes. Sarawak Education, Innovation and Talent Development Deputy Minister Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee also defended the position, securing 788 votes. Another new contender, Sarawak Deputy Minister of Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Datuk Len Talif Salleh, managed to secure the position with 687 votes.

Losers

Meanwhile, the state Deputy Utility and Telecommunication Minister, Datuk Abdul Rahman Junaidi, failed to defend the position, receiving only 546 votes.
