Dato’ G Kumaar Aamaan Praises Datuk Seri Nasution’s Firmness in Handling National Security Issues

I, Dato’ G Kumaar Aamaan from Ottrangknews, would like to commend Home Minister, Datuk Seri Nasution, for his firmness and the positive changes he has brought since taking over the ministry. His courage in bringing the SOSMA issue to public attention demonstrates his commitment to national security.

Although gangsterism among the Indian community has been on the rise recently, Datuk Seri Nasution has remained firm in taking tough actions to ensure that these crimes are controlled. Regarding the drug issue, the public hopes that he will bring this matter to Parliament so that law enforcement measures can be more effective and Malaysia will no longer serve as a major transit hub for international drug trafficking.

Largest Methamphetamine Drug Bust in the Country’s History

On January 25, the Bukit Aman Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (JSJN) successfully seized 33,200 kilograms (kg) of compressed methamphetamine stored in 166 blue drum barrels at West Port, Port Klang.

According to Acting Director of JSJN, Deputy Commissioner Mat Zani @ Mohd Salahuddin Che Ali, the drugs were transported from Iran, transited through Malaysia, and were destined for Australia.

“Each container contained 83 barrels, with a total weight of approximately 16,600 kg per container, bringing the overall total to 33,200 kg.”

International Market Value Soars Exponentially

The market price of these drugs in Malaysia is estimated at RM33,000 per kilogram, but in Australia, the value skyrockets to RM400,000 per kilogram.

“Had these drugs not been seized, they could have been used by more than 166 million people,” said Mat Zani.

Collaboration With AFP Led to the Successful Seizure

PDRM took two weeks before publicly revealing the seizure because they needed to identify the sender and recipient companies, as well as confirm that the contents of the barrels indeed contained methamphetamine.

“We delayed the announcement because we needed to track the sender and recipient companies. Secondly, we had to ensure that the contents were actually methamphetamine,” Mat Zani explained.

As part of this operation, the Australian Federal Police (AFP) have arrested several individuals in Australia, but the details of the arrests remain confidential as investigations are still ongoing.

“The containers were declared as containing cosmetics and candle-making materials.”

Is Malaysia Too Dependent on Foreign Intelligence?

The question remains—if Malaysia relies solely on intelligence from the AFP to combat international drug syndicates, how does the world perceive our country’s ability to control drug trafficking?

The Home Minister should bring this issue to Parliament to discuss the need to strengthen domestic intelligence so that Malaysia does not remain dependent on foreign sources for tackling drug-related crimes.
