GEORGE TOWN, Feb 22 – The political landscape of Perak was shaken today as Ayer Kuning State Assemblyman (ADUN), Ishsam Shahruddin, passed away suddenly after collapsing during a football event in Penang. The shocking incident occurred at around 5:20 PM while he was shaking hands with other players on the sidelines.
The 58-year-old assemblyman was in Penang to participate in the Four-Cornered Football Tournament for the Chief Minister’s Cup. According to a statement from the Northeast Penang District Police, Ishsam suddenly collapsed while interacting with others. Emergency aid was immediately provided at the scene before he was rushed to Penang Hospital at around 5:40 PM.
Despite the best efforts of medical personnel, Ishsam was pronounced dead at the Emergency Department at 6:28 PM. His sudden passing has deeply shocked both the political and sports communities.
Ishsam had served as the Ayer Kuning ADUN since 2022 and was also the Chief of UMNO Tapah. Born on August 31, 1966, he was a former football player and remained actively involved in local issues as well as sports.
