“Previous PMs Remained Calm When Attacked, Now PM Strikes Back When Criticised” – Dato G Kumaar Aamaann Dato G Kumaar Aamaann Compares Leadership Styles from Mahathir to Anwar Ibrahim

Putrajaya, 24 April – In the world of politics, a Prime Minister’s leadership style reflects their maturity and wisdom in governing a nation. However, in recent times, the public has increasingly questioned the approach of Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is often seen openly attacking the opposition, even during formal events such as Hari Raya celebrations.

Chief Editor of Ottrangknews, Dato G Kumaar Aamaann, voiced his concern over the shift towards a more heated and emotional political culture, especially in Parliament.

“We’ve had five Prime Ministers before Anwar – all of them were attacked in Parliament and heavily criticised by the opposition, yet they remained calm, respectful, and professional. None of them used official events as a stage for political retaliation,” said Dato G.

He elaborated:

Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad – Though firm and principled, he responded with facts and subtle wit, never resorting to direct insults.
Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi – Known as ‘Mr. Clean’, he was humble and never raised his voice, even under intense opposition pressure.
Dato’ Sri Najib Tun Razak – Responded to criticism with facts, rarely showing emotion or launching personal attacks in public.
Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin – Despite leading during a pandemic crisis, he maintained decorum in Parliament and showed respect to the opposition.
Dato’ Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob – Adopted a moderate and diplomatic approach, working to preserve harmony between the government and opposition blocs.

In contrast, Dato G observed that Anwar Ibrahim often raises his voice, displays anger in Parliament, and even uses Hari Raya events to attack the opposition – behaviour he deemed unprofessional and embarrassing.

“Raya celebrations are not political stages. The people come to seek forgiveness, not to hear endless political jabs,” Dato G Kumaar Aamaann stressed.

He further added that such actions indicate a lack of emotional control and immaturity in national leadership.

“If a leader cannot accept criticism, how can they be a role model for the younger generation? We need leaders with strong minds, not just strong voices,” he said.

Dato G called on today’s Prime Minister to emulate the grace and wisdom of previous leaders, in order to uphold the dignity of the Prime Minister’s office and foster political harmony in the country.
