KUALA LUMPUR: Concerns continue to grow over traditional ‘ayurveda’ treatment centers still operating in Simpang Ampat, Pulau Pinang, Teluk Intan, Perak, and Skudai, Johor, despite lacking valid licenses. Despite numerous reports linking these centers to a fraudulent doctor bearing the title ‘Datuk Seri,’ they continue offering medical services without recognition from the Ministry of Health Malaysia (KKM).
Authorities are urging members of the public who believe they have been scammed by these treatment centers to immediately lodge police reports at their nearest police station. Detailed reports with solid evidence are essential to support investigations, enable legal action, and bring these cases to court for justice.
Fight Fraud, Claim Your Rights
Victims who have spent significant amounts on treatments at these centers are encouraged to reclaim their money through legal channels. Every penny spent is a product of hard work aimed at ensuring family health. Losing money to such scams is a grave injustice that must be rectified.
One victim shared their painful experience: “I spent over RM10,000 for my mother’s treatment at one of these centers, but in the end, my mother passed away. We were told to stop hospital medications, and it was all in vain.”
Advice for the Public
1. Lodge a Police Report: If you feel scammed, promptly file a report with supporting evidence such as receipts, photos, or communication records.
2. Beware of Unlicensed Treatments: Ensure the treatment center you visit is officially recognized by KKM.
3. Spread Awareness: Share this information with others to prevent more people from falling victim to these scams.
Authorities Urged to Take Action
Residents in Simpang Ampat, Teluk Intan, and Skudai are calling on authorities to take firm action against these centers. The Ministry of Health and the police are urged to act promptly to protect the public from health risks caused by unlicensed treatments.
These cases are being investigated under the Traditional and Complementary Medicine Act 2016 and Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating. With public cooperation and firm action from the authorities, it is hoped that these fraudulent treatment centers will be shut down entirely, and justice will be served to the victims.
