KUALA LUMPUR: The Prime Minister is expected to announce a Cabinet reshuffle soon, with Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives, Datuk Seri R Ramanan, rumored to replace S. Gobind Singh Deo. This move is seen as a strategy to strengthen the government’s leadership, particularly in facing ongoing political challenges.
Ramanan: Focus on Helping the People, Not Election Speculation
In a related development, Ramanan criticized speculation about a snap general election, which he claimed was being played up by certain parties. He stated that the next two and a half years should be dedicated to helping the people rather than merely preparing for elections.
“This attitude seems like an attempt to ‘wash hands’ of the responsibility of taking care of the people, whereas the main focus should be on welfare and efforts to improve the lives of the community,” he told the media after launching the Madani Community Outreach Program: Back to School today.
His statement was in response to BERSATU’s preparations for a potential snap general election at the end of this year, as mentioned by its Secretary-General, Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.
PM Holds the Sole Authority to Decide on Elections
Ramanan reaffirmed that the decision regarding the general election rests solely with the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Therefore, all parties should await an official decision without preempting the established process.
The upcoming Cabinet reshuffle is expected to bring fresh momentum to the government’s administration, ensuring that its policies continue smoothly without political distractions.
Is this reshuffle a sign of a new strategy by Anwar Ibrahim to strengthen the unity government? All eyes are now on the Prime Minister’s official announcement in the coming days.
