Sarawak’s Ambitious Plan to Become Malaysia’s Aerospace Hub

A High-Quality Workforce is Crucial

Kuching: Sarawak needs a high-quality workforce to support its mission to become Malaysia’s hub for the aerospace industry. According to Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, the industry requires people who are very well-versed in technology.

The Need for Skilled Workers

"When we talk about satellites, we must know how to make rockets, because you need rockets to go to orbit. Then, the satellite must be equipped with chips that can read what’s on the ground and store data," Abang Johari said in his speech during SMD Semiconductor’s Annual Dinner here, tonight. "That is why Sarawak has requested i-CATS University College to establish an aerospace faculty and work with international experts to teach our people this new technology. It is a very ambitious plan, but we have to start somewhere."

Federal Government’s Support

On July 29, Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz reportedly said the Federal government had proposed for Sarawak to become Malaysia’s hub for the aerospace industry. Tengku Zafrul said the state had shown great potential in the industry, especially in the commitment to produce skilled workers for the sector.

The Road to Success

To achieve its goal, Sarawak needs to develop a strong foundation in the aerospace industry. This requires a combination of cutting-edge technology, innovative thinking, and highly skilled professionals. The state must also establish partnerships with international organizations and companies to gain access to the latest knowledge and expertise.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Sarawak’s plan to become Malaysia’s aerospace hub is an ambitious one, but it is achievable with the right strategy and support. The state’s commitment to produce skilled workers is a crucial step in this journey, and with the right partnerships, Sarawak can become a major player in the global aerospace industry.
