Selangor Residents Demand Firm Action Against Gangsterism: Dato’ Param Suggested to Provide Advice & Sultan Selangor as the Guardian of State Security

Klang, March 19 – The worsening gangsterism issue in Klang and Selangor has raised concerns among the public. Many believe that stricter action must be taken by the authorities, including the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), to combat organized crime groups that disrupt the peace and security of the community.

Recently, the name of former Klang OCPD, Dato’ Param, has been mentioned as an experienced figure in tackling gangsterism. The people hope that he will be given the opportunity to share his expertise or at least provide advice to the authorities on formulating a more effective strategy to curb this crime.

Selangor Residents’ Views: Tougher Action & Expert Advice Needed

Several Klang residents believe that the police seem to be failing to curb the growing gangsterism problem. Some claim that the authorities are “pretending to be asleep” and are not enforcing the law effectively.

“Every day, we hear cases of robbery, threats, and illegal gangster activities. We want the police to take firmer action, not just conduct large-scale operations occasionally,” said a Klang trader who wished to remain anonymous.

However, some believe that expelling the families of gangsters entirely may not be fair, as not all family members are involved in criminal activities.

“We must ensure that only those guilty are punished. If there is solid evidence, then legal action should be taken without compromise,” said a lawyer interviewed in Shah Alam.

Meanwhile, many also believe that experienced individuals like Dato’ Param can contribute ideas and advice to the state government or police in formulating a more effective strategy to eradicate gangsterism.

How to Tackle Gangsterism Among the Indian Community?

One of the key concerns raised is how to address gangsterism within the Indian community in Selangor. Although gangsterism is not exclusive to one particular ethnicity, organized criminal activities within the Indian community have often received media and law enforcement attention.

Some proposed measures include:

1. Utilizing the Prevention of Crime Act (POCA) – Authorities can impose preventive detention on individuals suspected of being actively involved in gangsterism.

2. Rehabilitation and Awareness Programs – Besides legal action, some suggest the creation of special programs to educate young individuals within the Indian community to prevent them from getting involved in crime.

3. Strengthening the Role of Community Leaders – Indian community leaders, including NGOs and welfare organizations, need to play a role in identifying at-risk individuals and working with authorities to curb gangsterism influence.

4. Detention and Control of Offenders – Some also propose that those proven to be involved in serious crimes should be quarantined in special rehabilitation centers before being reintegrated into society.

The Role of Sultan Selangor in Upholding State Security

Under traditional legal customs, the Sultan of Selangor has the authority and right as the sovereign ruler to ensure the safety and harmony of his people. He serves as the protector of Islam and the guardian of local customs and traditions, but in matters of security, enforcement remains under the jurisdiction of the government and security forces.

However, if this situation persists without a clear resolution, the people of Selangor may seek for Sultan Selangor to exercise his right as the Head of State to issue a decree or strong advisory urging the authorities to take more aggressive action against gangsterism.

According to the Selangor State Constitution 1959, the Sultan can provide advice and views to the state government and authorities on issues related to state security. His decrees are often considered in shaping policies that ensure the well-being of the people.

Conclusion: The Public Wants Immediate Solutions

The gangsterism issue in Selangor cannot be taken lightly. While the police continue to combat this crime, the public feels that more decisive actions are needed to restore peace and order in the state.

If the situation does not improve, the people may call upon Sultan Selangor to exercise his traditional authority to emphasize the urgency of more effective law enforcement.

At the same time, law enforcement must be carried out fairly, firmly, and in accordance with the principles of justice, ensuring that the safety of Selangor residents is upheld without violating anyone’s rights.
