KUALA LUMPUR – A shocking incident unfolded in the capital when a group of Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) enforcement officers were reportedly seen using excessive force against a local balloon vendor during an enforcement operation.
According to eyewitnesses, the Malaysian vendor pleaded for extra time to pack up his goods, but his requests were ignored. Instead, he was allegedly beaten, shoved, and stomped on by several enforcement officers.
What made the incident even more controversial was the claim that Chinese national vendors operating nearby were not subjected to the same treatment. In fact, many alleged that these foreign traders continued their business without any disruption, despite violating the same regulations.
Public Outrage: “Whose Country Is This?”
The incident has sparked outrage among Malaysians on social media. Many expressed their frustration over what they perceived as selective enforcement by the authorities.
“If local Malaysians try to do business, they get beaten up. But if foreigners do the same, the authorities look the other way! Where is the justice for Malaysian citizens?” one Facebook user wrote.
Others criticized the government, accusing it of prioritizing foreigners over its own people. “Go ahead and keep voting for a government that protects outsiders! Meanwhile, we Malaysians are treated like stray dogs!” another netizen posted angrily.
Demands for Transparency & Immediate Action
The public is demanding answers from the authorities as to why local vendors and foreign traders are treated so differently. They are also calling for disciplinary action against enforcement officers who used unnecessary force.
