KUALA LUMPUR: A severe accident occurred at KM 8 of the SPE Highway after the Chan Sow Lin Toll Plaza on December 15, 2024, at approximately 12:35 PM. A local motorcyclist, aged 34, was struck by a car, resulting in serious injuries. The motorcyclist sustained head, face, and abdomen injuries, while the car driver, also 34, was uninjured and continued driving until a fire broke out in the vehicle at KM 18.1 near Wangsa Maju Toll Plaza.
The car driver has been detained under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, and a remand application will be filed on December 16, 2024. Authorities are urging the public to drive carefully and report accidents promptly.
