PUTRAJAYA – Renowned lawyer, Shafee Abdullah, expressed his anger over the actions of former Attorney General, Ahmad Terrirudin Salleh, who is accused of concealing a royal addendum allowing Najib Razak to serve the remainder of his prison sentence under house arrest.
In a tense press conference at the Palace of Justice, Shafee strongly condemned Terrirudin’s actions, which he considered a betrayal of the country’s justice system.
“I want to ask, who gave the Attorney General the right to hide the truth? Who gave him the power to disregard a royal document? This is not about politics; this is about justice!” Shafee said, clearly furious about the situation.
According to Shafee, the royal addendum was sent by the Pahang Palace to Terrirudin on January 29, 2024. However, Shafee claimed that Terrirudin deliberately redirected the document to the new Yang di-Pertuan Agong, seemingly attempting to erase crucial evidence.
“This is irresponsible behavior! Don’t try to hide behind legal technicalities to deny someone’s rights!” he said passionately.
Shafee also criticized Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s statement that the addendum had been returned to Istana Negara after Sultan Ibrahim ascended the throne as the new Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
“I repeat again—laws cannot be manipulated! If an order has been issued by the previous Agong, it must be respected. We are not in a country where decisions can be changed at will!” he said with strong emotion.
Shafee emphasized that contempt of court proceedings against Terrirudin would be filed no later than this Friday.
“I will ensure that those responsible will be called to court and answer for their actions. We will not stop until justice is served!” he said confidently.
