Asian Cycling Championships: Shah Firdaus Sahrom to Compete Despite Injury
Kuala Lumpur, Feb 12 – National track cycling ace Shah Firdaus Sahrom is poised to compete in the keirin and sprint events at the Asian Cycling Championships (ACC) 2025, despite injuring his knee in an accident during training recently.
According to national track cycling head coach Harnizam Basri, Shah Firdaus should be able to participate in both events based on his current condition. However, his fitness level will be reassessed by the coaches after the keirin event, which is scheduled to take place on February 22, before deciding whether or not he will compete in the sprint event.
Injury Update
Shah Firdaus suffered injuries to the patella and below his knee. Despite this, his coach is confident that he will be able to compete in both events.
New Faces to Watch Out For
Harnizam also announced that several new faces who shone in the President’s Cup earlier will be competing in the ACC 2025. These include Mohd Akmal Nazimi Jusena, who will replace Umar Hasbullah in the team sprint event, and Nurul Alyssa Farid, who will compete in the women’s sprint individual, team, and keirin events.

In the 2024 edition of the Asian Cycling Championships, which was held in New Delhi, India, Malaysia bagged two golds, two silvers, and a bronze, finishing third overall behind Japan and China.
