His five-year legacy includes RM434 million in annual income and a cultural transformation that won the hearts of many.

PETALING JAYA: Shahul Hameed Shaik Dawood officially stepped down as Chief Executive Officer of the Human Resource Development Corporation (HRD Corp) yesterday, marking exactly five years of dedicated service since his appointment.

In a heartfelt farewell video shared on HRD Corp’s official social media, Shahul expressed his gratitude to the entire team, stating, “You are the reason I am here. You made me very proud. Together, we made the dream come true.”

His leadership journey saw both remarkable milestones and moments of scrutiny, but his legacy is largely defined by transformation, growth, and innovation.

Under Shahul’s stewardship, HRD Corp evolved into a leading national skills and employment hub. He modernised internal systems, realigned strategic goals, and positioned the organisation as a regional force in human capital development.

In 2024, HRD Corp posted a record-breaking income of RM434.2 million, with a pre-tax surplus of RM127 million. Total assets under management hit RM4 billion, and the organisation secured a return on investment of 5.3%, driven by precise and purposeful strategies.

The agency also celebrated a historic levy collection of RM2.32 billion and approved grants totalling RM2.28 billion — with an impressive 98% utilisation rate, showcasing efficiency in fund distribution.

Yet, beyond the numbers, Shahul is most admired for his leadership style.

“His ability to connect with people, regardless of rank or role, created a work culture defined by inclusivity, trust, and shared purpose,” said a staff member.
