Shame on Malaysia’s Traffic Police: Public Demands Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri Take Firm Action Against Corrupt Officers

Must Read

PETALING JAYA: The public is outraged over allegations of corruption among traffic police officers who reportedly solicit money not only from local drivers but also from foreign tourists, disabled drivers (OKU), and foreign workers with valid licenses.

A viral video on social media shows a traffic officer allegedly receiving something from a driver at a roadblock near The Mines shopping mall in Seri Kembangan, Selangor. The officer was seen placing the item into his pocket before walking back to his colleagues.

Bribery During Ramadan: Public Anger and Disappointment

This incident has sparked widespread anger, with many calling it a disgrace that tarnishes the reputation of Malaysia’s traffic police force. What makes it even worse is that it occurred during Ramadan, a month when integrity and honesty should be upheld.

If the officer involved is a Muslim, his actions are even more shameful as they disrespect the sanctity of the holy month. Many citizens have condemned this act, calling it a stain on religious values and an insult to the principles of justice.

“Aren’t they ashamed to engage in such corruption, especially during Ramadan? Law enforcement officers should set an example for society, not tarnish the reputation of the police force with such disgraceful behavior!” said one frustrated netizen.

Serdang District Police Chief AA Anbalagan confirmed that an internal investigation is underway to determine whether there was misconduct or a breach of procedure during the roadblock, which took place between 12:15 PM and 1:15 PM today.

Public Urges Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri to Take Strong Action

The public is now looking to Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri, Director of the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) at Bukit Aman, to take strict action against any traffic officers found guilty in this case.

They demand that the harshest disciplinary measures be enforced, including dismissal and court prosecution for the officers involved. Additionally, they insist that drivers who offer bribes should also face legal consequences.

“Don’t just arrest the officers accepting bribes—those who give bribes must also be punished! If there are no givers, there will be no takers. It is everyone’s responsibility to fight corruption,” a social media user emphasized.

Public Calls for a Major Clean-Up

The people are now urging authorities to launch a large-scale operation to eradicate corruption within the traffic police force. They also hope that honest and dedicated officers will be given greater power to ensure that Malaysia’s traffic enforcement system is free from bribery.

If firm action is not taken immediately, the reputation of the traffic police force will continue to deteriorate, and public trust in law enforcement will collapse.

The public is now waiting for Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri to take decisive action against officers who have tarnished the integrity of Malaysia’s traffic police force.
