Super League: Selangor FC Held To Goalless Draw Against Sabah FC

Soccer: Selangor FC and Sabah FC Share the Spoils in Goalless Draw

PETALING JAYA, Feb 27 (Bernama) – Selangor FC’s hopes of securing three points at home against Sabah FC were dashed after both teams settled for a goalless draw in their 2024/2025 Super League match at the Petaling Jaya City Council Stadium (MBPJ) tonight.

The draw was somewhat disappointing for the Red Giants’ loyal supporters, who were still celebrating the team’s Challenge Cup triumph last Saturday.

A Slow-Paced Game

It was a slow-paced game in the first half, with neither team creating much. In the 74th minute, Sabah had a golden opportunity to break the deadlock through a penalty kick, but Darren Lok’s shot was easily read and caught by Selangor’s goalkeeper, and poor finishing from both sides kept the score at 0-0 until the final whistle.

Result and League Table

With the result, Selangor remain in second place in the league with 43 points, while Sabah hold third place with 35 points.

Sri Pahang FC Suffers Heavy Defeat

Meanwhile, Sri Pahang FC failed to capitalise on home advantage as they suffered a heavy 1-5 defeat to Terengganu FC at the Temerloh Municipal Council Stadium.

The visitors made a strong start, opening the scoring through Muhammad Akhyar Rashid’s powerful strike inside the penalty box in the second minute. Terengganu continued their dominance with a stunning goal by Muhammad Safawi Rashid in the 20th minute, followed by Muhammad Safwan Mazlan’s strike eight minutes later.

Sri Pahang’s only goal came from Sergio Fabian Aguero in the 39th minute, but Terengganu sealed the win with two more second-half goals through Ismaheel Akinade in the 58th minute and Manuel Gelito Ott in the 89th minute.
