Kuala Lumpur, March 23 – The UMNO Youth Chief today issued a firm response to the statement by MIC President, Tan Sri Vickneswaran, who claimed that Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) was being blamed for informing about the land sale to Jakel without notifying the temple management.
He stressed that the land in question belongs to DBKL, while the temple management is merely a tenant. Logically, it should have been the temple management’s responsibility to inquire with DBKL regarding the land status.
“They claim to have been there for 130 years. At the very least, they should have asked or sent a letter to determine whether they could rent or purchase the land. It is not DBKL’s responsibility as the landowner to inform tenants when they decide to sell the land,” he stated.
He further emphasized that the issue should not be exaggerated and must be resolved through legal means.
“We have laws in this country. Let the courts decide, and we must abide by the court’s ruling. If we keep recycling this narrative, it will only confuse the people,” he stressed.
He also reiterated that Malaysia is a sovereign nation with a clear legal system and does not operate under jungle law.
“I urge Tan Sri Vickneswaran to understand the real issue and avoid causing unnecessary confusion. Let’s put an end to this matter and let the court determine the outcome,” he concluded.
The UMNO Youth Chief’s strong statement quickly gained traction after being uploaded on TikTok, where it went viral within hours. Netizens reacted with various opinions, with many agreeing that the matter should be resolved through legal proceedings rather than being politicized further.
