Kuala Lumpur, March 23 – The Chief Editor of Ottrangknews, Dato G Kumaar Aamaan, has issued a statement addressing the remarks made by the UMNO Youth Chief, who called for Tan Sri Vickneswaran to stop questioning Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) over the sale of temple land.
Dato G Kumaar Aamaan stated that the UMNO Youth Chief’s attempt to place full blame on the temple management does not reflect fairness and responsibility as a leader in a multi-racial country like Malaysia.
“The Law Must Be Upheld Fairly, Not for the Benefit of Certain Parties”
“I respect the views of the UMNO Youth Chief, but in such a significant issue, we cannot look at it from a one-sided perspective. Malaysia is a nation built on the principle of Rule of Law, as enshrined in the Rukun Negara. Every citizen has the right to fair justice, regardless of their religion or race,” Dato G Kumaar Aamaan emphasized.
He pointed out that DBKL, as the landowner, had a duty to conduct proper consultations and provide formal notice to affected parties, especially since the land has been used as a place of worship for over 130 years.
“This is not merely about land ownership, but about administrative responsibility and accountability. If we truly uphold democracy and transparent governance, then any sale involving a place of worship must be handled with greater ethical responsibility,” he stated.
“Do Not Diminish Leadership Integrity with Emotional Statements”
Dato G Kumaar Aamaan also advised the UMNO Youth Chief to avoid using this issue to stir racial and religious tensions.
“I remind the UMNO Youth Chief that a wise leader does not make statements that could offend the sensitivities of the people. If he truly wants this matter to be resolved legally, then he himself must respect the legal process by ensuring that all parties are given their rightful due,” he stressed.
He further added that it is not the UMNO Youth Chief’s right to demand that Tan Sri Vickneswaran stop speaking out, as every citizen has the right to voice their concerns, especially when based on legal grounds and factual evidence.
“As Malaysians, we have the right to fight for justice through the proper channels, and this includes speaking up when there is an element of injustice. Telling someone to remain silent is an act that does not reflect the spirit of democracy we uphold in this country,” he added.
“Leadership Is Not Just About Power, But Responsibility”
In his statement, Dato G Kumaar Aamaan reminded that a respected leader is one who seeks solutions wisely, rather than blindly defending one side.
“I advise the UMNO Youth Chief to practice a more mature and responsible form of politics, rather than merely pointing fingers without fully understanding the context of the issue. What we need are leaders who offer fair solutions for all Malaysians, not just those who give orders without considering the consequences,” he asserted.
According to him, in a country that values racial harmony, sensitive issues such as this must be addressed through open discussions involving all stakeholders, rather than by silencing voices that demand justice.
He also emphasized that the temple land issue requires further investigation to ensure that no injustice or abuse of power has taken place in the sale of the land.
“We must not close the door to justice in order to defend a particular party. We must not only talk about the rule of law but also practice it fairly,” he concluded.
Dato G Kumaar Aamaan’s statement has gained widespread attention on social media, with many supporting the call for the issue to be resolved transparently and fairly, without statements that could further divide Malaysians.
