The Concept Takes Shape
The World Expo 2025 in Japan will feature an ultrasonic bath with added artificial intelligence. This innovative concept, created by Science Co., aims to clean and relax users with a combination of hot water and ultrasound waves, all overseen by a dedicated AI system. This futuristic pod, called the "Mirai Ningen Sentakuki" or Human Washing Machine of the Future, pays homage to a concept unveiled by Sanyo Electric in 1970 at a previous World Expo in Osaka.
How it Works
The modernized version of the ultrasonic bath uses ultrasound to help thoroughly cleanse the skin, with the added benefit of AI. The bathtub, still in the prototype stage, is designed for partial immersion in hot water, with the entire process taking no more than 15 minutes. By generating microscopic bubbles, ultrasound waves remove impurities and dead skin cells effortlessly, without soap, while also providing a massaging action.
Artificial Intelligence and Sensors
Artificial intelligence comes into play to study the user’s needs in real-time, based on their skin type and the areas to be targeted for optimal cleansing. The AI system will also analyze the user’s emotional state, thanks to various sensors placed inside the pod. Soothing images will then be projected accordingly, and essential oils diffused into the air to promote relaxation and well-being, while the machine quietly washes the user clean.
Availability at the World Expo
For the duration of the World Expo event, from April 13 to October 13, 2025, up to 1,000 visitors will have the opportunity to test this innovative experience in the pavilion dedicated to innovation and well-being. After the event, Science Co. plans to launch a domestic model, bringing this technology to the masses.
