Terengganu Hockey Team Reclaims Malaysia Hockey League Title
The Terengganu Hockey Team (THT) has reclaimed the Malaysia Hockey League (MHL) title in style, defeating Australia’s Territory Stingers 4-1 in the final league match at the National Hockey Stadium in Bukit Jalil.
A Decade of Dominance
Today’s win marks THT’s seventh MHL title, with previous wins in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2018, 2022, and 2023. Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) won the League crown last year.
Faizal Saari’s Heroics
In the THT-Territory Stingers match, prolific hitman Faizal Saari was the hero for the Terengganu side, scoring all four goals (14th, 24th, 32nd, and 33rd minutes) for a ninth straight – and final – win.
Coach’s Reaction
"Alhamdulillah, our players were all up for it today and were well prepared mentally and physically. This match allowed us to make amends for last season’s disappointment (of losing the league title to TNB)," said THT head coach Mohd Harfizi Baharom. "Our players did well to capitalise on the chances created and they played all out today to make sure we regained the league title," he added.
Looking Ahead to the Future
Lifting the league crown is the best tonic for his team as they turn their attention to the TNB Cup next week, according to Coach Baharom.
Additional Accolades
For the record, THT also bagged the 2025 Charity Shield from arch-enemy TNB, who captured a treble last season (Charity Shield, TNB Cup, and League title).
