Trial of GISB CEO Nasiruddin Ali and 21 Others for Organised Crime Group to Be Held in Shah Alam High Court

The trial of GISB Holdings Sdn Bhd (GISBH) CEO Nasiruddin Ali, his wife Azura Yusof, and 20 others charged with being members of an organised crime group has been transferred to the Shah Alam High Court.

A Sessions Court judge, Lailatul Zuraida Harron, made the ruling following an application by the deputy public prosecutor Norinna Bahadun. Bahadun stated that the Attorney-General’s Chambers had agreed to the transfer.

Also charged alongside Nasiruddin, Azura, and their 20 co-accused is Adib At-Tarmimi, the son of the late Al-Arqam founder Ashaari Muhammad.

The defence counsel, Rosli Kamaruddin, did not oppose the transfer request, but did express concerns over the treatment of Nasiruddin and Azura during their detention. Nasiruddin and Azura have been held in solitary confinement at Sungai Buloh prison and Kajang prison, respectively, for over a month since their arrest.

"I request that this be recorded in the court proceedings and an application will be made to the home ministry with police support to have their solitary confinement order lifted and for them to be placed in regular cells," Rosli said.

Another counsel, Najib Zakaria, also announced that an application would be made for a gag order at the High Court due to concerns over public discussions about the case, which could interfere with proceedings.

The group, comprising 21 people, including GISBH CEOs Nasiruddin and Azura, were arrested in October 2024 for allegedly being members of an organised crime group based in Bandar Country Homes, Rawang. The offences allegedly took place between October 2020 and September 11, 2024.

The 21 accused, aged between 27 and 72, are facing charges under Section 130V(1) of the Penal Code, which carries a sentence of between five and 20 years in prison upon conviction.

The transfer of the trial of GISB CEO Nasiruddin Ali and his 20 co-accused to the Shah Alam High Court marks a new phase in the proceedings against them. The defence teams are expected to continue arguing on behalf of their clients and seeking justice.
