Umno’s Cowardly Act: Tuan Ibrahim and Takiyuddin’s Stinging Criticism

Must Read

KUALA LUMPUR, January 5 – Malaysia’s political landscape continues to heat up as PAS Deputy President Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man openly criticized Umno as “cowardly” following the party’s decision to withdraw from the planned solidarity rally for Datuk Seri Najib Razak. This criticism was echoed by PAS Secretary-General Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan, who insisted that the rally does not violate the royal decree or interfere with the Pardons Board.

In his sharp remarks, Tuan Ibrahim lambasted Umno’s actions, accusing the party of succumbing to political pressure from coalition partners such as DAP. He described Umno’s decision as unprincipled and an act of yielding, leaving the space for others to manipulate the issue.

“Umno’s decision to withdraw from the rally reflects a lack of courage to uphold principles and solidarity with Datuk Seri Najib Razak. PAS will not bow to such political pressure,” said Tuan Ibrahim.

Takiyuddin, meanwhile, defended PAS’s decision to go ahead with the rally, stating that it is a legitimate expression of public support for the royal institution and justice for Najib. “This rally is not against the royal decree but a manifestation of solidarity and support for the legal process,” he added.

Najib’s Family and Support from Various Groups

Najib’s son, Datuk Nazifuddin Najib, expressed deep gratitude for the continued support from PAS and various NGOs planning to join the rally. He emphasized that public support through the rally demonstrates respect for the royal institution and the constitutional system of the nation.

Malay-Muslim NGOs such as Ummah and Perkasa have also pledged their commitment to attend, viewing the rally as an opportunity to showcase public unity and faith in justice.

Umno Under Fire

Umno’s decision to cancel its involvement in the rally has drawn criticism from various quarters. Umno Youth Chief Datuk Dr. Muhamad Akmal Saleh personally announced that he would attend to offer moral support for Najib, despite his party’s different stance.

The decision has also sparked discontent among Umno’s grassroots members, who perceive it as a failure to defend their former leader. Many in Umno view PAS’s determination to proceed with the rally as a reflection of courage and dedication to justice.

Conclusion

This clash of opinions underscores how the issue of Datuk Seri Najib Razak continues to be a focal point in Malaysia’s political narrative. Whether seen as a sign of respect for the legal system or a political tool, the solidarity rally will undoubtedly take center stage in shaping the country’s political discourse.
