KUALA LUMPUR, May 3 (Bernama) — Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), in collaboration with the Universiti Malaya (UM) Sports Centre and the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama), is organising the Sports Synergy Carnival to be held on May 10 and 11.
The university, in a statement today, said that the sports carnival, now in its second edition, will bring together nine contingents consisting of public universities and agencies in the Klang Valley.
They include UTM, UM, International Islamic University Malaysia, Hospital Kuala Lumpur, the Federal Territory Islamic Religious Council, the Ministry of Defence, the Kuala Lumpur Police Training Centre and Bernama.
According to the statement, more than 600 athletes are expected to participate in the tournament to be held simultaneously at four locations, including UTM Kuala Lumpur and UM campuses.
“This sports carnival is organised to strengthen the development of sports and scout for new talents among staff as well as strengthen the bond of cooperation and brotherhood between public higher education institutions and government agencies.
“This is also the first time that we are involving the participation of public agencies,” it said.
It said UM emerged as the overall champion in the first edition of the tournament in 2022.
In this edition, a total of nine sports events will be contested, namely 9-a-side football, netball, men’s volleyball, team darts, men’s and women’s tenpin bowling, as well as badminton involving men’s, women’s doubles and women’s singles categories.
