Voices of the People: Passengers Forced to Wait for Hours at KLIA, Who is to Blame?

Must Read

Sepang, February 1, 2025 – The situation at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), Sepang, has become increasingly concerning as many passengers are forced to wait for hours just to get through the check-in process and immigration clearance. This issue is not only frustrating for regular passengers but also for the elderly and people with disabilities (PWD) who are forced to look for responsible officers, often facing delays of several hours.

Main Issues at KLIA: Waiting & Congestion Everywhere

✅ Congestion in parking areas – Parking spots are full, valet parking is packed, and even waiting areas are overcrowded with people having nowhere to rest before their flights.
✅ Full boarding counters – Passengers must queue for long periods at boarding counters before descending to immigration.
✅ System issues at the ticket checkpoint – Upon reaching the checkpoint before immigration, the system prevents passengers from proceeding, forcing them to return to the ticket counter to resolve technical issues.
✅ Difficult to find officers – When ticket issues arise, passengers are asked to find the responsible officer or boarding manager, who may be busy with other matters. In some cases, passengers are left waiting for hours before their issue is resolved.
✅ Passengers forced to buy new tickets if they miss their flight – Even when the delay is caused by system issues or airport management failures, passengers are still forced to purchase new tickets if they miss their flight.

Who is to Blame?

Is it the elderly? The people with disabilities? Or is it KLIA’s system that fails to manage passenger flow effectively? Even passengers who arrive 4 hours early for their flight face delays due to management weaknesses at the airport.

If delays are caused by the airline, do passengers have the right to compensation or special services? Why should passengers have to buy a new ticket, even when the delay was not their fault?

Voices of the People Ottrangknews Demands Justice!

Airport authorities and airlines must take responsibility and resolve these issues. If delays are caused by management or system errors:

❗ Passengers must be given fair compensation
❗ Special services should be provided for the elderly and people with disabilities
❗ The ticketing and immigration systems must be more efficient to prevent delays
❗ Airlines cannot simply wash their hands of responsibility and force passengers to buy new tickets

This issue cannot continue! The public deserves better service and systems at KLIA.
