Kluang, February 8, 2025 – A viral claim by animal welfare activist Fauziah has sparked intense debate after she alleged that enforcement officers transported captured stray dogs to the same burial site for disposal. Her revelation on the Fauziah Paws Care Facebook page shocked many and raised concerns among animal rights activists.
However, the Kluang Municipal Council (MPK) has strongly denied the allegations. In an official statement issued by MPK President Mohd Fahmy bin Yahya, the council emphasized that all procedures for capturing and disposing of stray dogs are conducted in accordance with the 2014 Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for Stray Dog Management, as outlined by the Ministry of Urban Well-being, Housing, and Local Government.
According to MPK, the euthanasia process is carried out using the Put to Sleep (PTS) method under the supervision of veterinary officers to ensure that only approved drugs are used. MPK has also filed a police report against the social media accounts that spread these allegations, citing concerns about potential damage to the local authority’s reputation.
With both sides presenting conflicting statements, a crucial question arises: Who is telling the truth? Does Fauziah have concrete evidence, or have enforcement officers been unfairly accused?
Animal rights groups are now urging the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, who oversees veterinary and animal welfare affairs, to intervene and conduct a thorough investigation. They are calling for stricter laws, greater transparency, and ethical enforcement. Some activists are also pushing for legal action to ensure justice for stray animals and to hold accountable any enforcement officers involved in misconduct.
As emotions run high, the public is eagerly awaiting further evidence. Will this case be taken to court, or will it be dismissed as misinformation? The truth remains unclear, but one thing is certain—it is time for the minister to take firm action to uphold justice and protect animal welfare.
