“Why Should We Be Afraid? This Is Our Country!” — YB Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan Firmly Defends Malay Rights

Must Read

Kuala Lumpur, February 21 — PAS (Parti Islam Se-Malaysia) Secretary-General and Kota Bharu MP, YB Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan, has strongly affirmed that he will neither be hypocritical nor apologize when it comes to defending Malay interests. Speaking in Parliament, he reiterated PAS’s strong opposition to the URA Bill, claiming that the legislation carries a hidden agenda.

He argued that the bill violates existing laws, particularly the 1960 Land Acquisition Act. Furthermore, he alleged that even the Federal Land and Mines Department (JKPTG) does not support the explicit or implicit intentions behind the bill.

“We Do Not Have the Majority, But We Will Continue to Fight”

Takiyuddin acknowledged that PAS lacks a parliamentary majority to block the bill but expressed hope that at least 26 MPs from UMNO-BN would support their cause. He pointed out that the current government only holds a slim majority with 82 MPs from the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition and 30 from UMNO-BN.

“If UMNO-BN still considers itself a sacred party for Malays and Muslims, then they must take this issue seriously. We will not be hypocritical on this matter, and I will not apologize.”

Support from NGOs and the Malay-Muslim Community

He also thanked Malay-Muslim NGOs and all parties supporting this struggle, urging them to maintain momentum to prevent the bill from being tabled in Parliament.

“This Is Not About Racism or Violence”

In his speech, Takiyuddin emphasized that their fight is not about racism or violence, but rather about defending the rights of future generations, including the children of national security forces.

“We are fighting for our children and the generations to come, including our friends in the security forces.”

Ending his speech with strong emotion, he expressed hope that the gathering would have a lasting impact in the fight for Malay rights.

“Thank you to all who attended. May God bless you, and may peace be with you.”
