PETALING JAYA: Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi emphasized that he is not a child in the political arena and is well aware of the discussions surrounding Tengku Zafrul Aziz, who is negotiating his potential move to PKR. Zahid asserted that he understands the intricacies of the political game currently unfolding, despite speculation surrounding Zafrul, a member of the Umno Supreme Council, who is reportedly in talks to switch parties.
Zahid acknowledged being aware of the ongoing political discussions and stressed that loyalty to the party should always take precedence. “We are fully aware of these discussions, and while every member has their personal decisions, loyalty to the party must always come first,” he said, without directly referencing Zafrul.
Zafrul’s potential move is seen as a significant shift in Malaysia’s political landscape, particularly within Umno and its political alliances. Zahid emphasized that Umno prioritizes loyalty and the party’s struggle, and any decision driven by personal interests should not outweigh the party’s goals.
With this development, all eyes are now on Zafrul’s decision and the political changes that may follow in the near future.
